Donald T. “Don” Swager died on Aug. 10, 2022 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 88.
He was born on July 6, 1934 in Wenatchee, Wash. to Peter and Dorothy Waterbury Swager.
Don was raised and attended schools in Wenatchee, graduating from Wenatchee High School in the class of 1952. He lived in Seattle and worked for Boeing before moving to Moses Lake, Wash. and working for AAA Pre Mix. He drove cement truck, was their mechanic and worked his way to supervisor. Don moved to Ritzville, Wash. in 1976 and bought Ritzville Pre Mix. He married Muriel Baril Allen on March 26, 1983 in Ritzville, Wash. He retired in 1993 and they moved to Hermiston, where they have lived since.
Don enjoyed RC planes, gardening and tinkering. He was very mechanical and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. Don was an active member of the Living Faith Church in Hermiston, where he had a passion for maintaining the church.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Muriel Swager, Hermiston; sons, Donnie Swager and wife Loretta, Grayland, Wash., Randy Swager and wife Peggy, Creston, Colo. and David Swager and wife Paula, Stanwood, Wash.; step children, Lorraine Johnson, Cle Elum, Wash., Ted Allen, Porterville, Calif. and Wendy Osborn, Spokane, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild with another on the way.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Gary; and sisters, Audry and Marge.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Living Faith Church, Hermiston.
