Kara Brown
Kara Fallon “Poogie” Brown, longtime Hermiston resident, passed away on Sept. 18, 2016 in Maui, Hawaii at the age of 32.

She was born on July 22, 1984 in Hermiston. Shortly after she was born, her mother commented on her sweet little “Poogie” nose. Kara was then and there after lovingly referred to as “Poogie” by her family and friends. She excelled in all things academic, attending Hermiston School, Blue Mountain Community College, and Eastern Oregon University. In her junior high school years, she played the flute and the clarinet. In her later years she taught herself to play the piano and after just two weeks she was playing beautiful Christmas songs. During high school, Kara had a passion for track and cross country where she was a “Star” in both sports. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, hiking, and sightseeing. Kara enjoyed and cherished time spent with her family and friends. She was always the comic, making others laugh. Kara will be remembered for the twinkle in her beautiful green eyes, soft tender heart, and amazing sense of humor. She was a friend to many and loved by all, rest easy my child.

She is survived by her mother: Darci Giesen and stepfather: Charlie; sisters: Brittney Fisher and Abby Langley; grandmother: Cindi Brown and (Dan Burns)’ grandfather: Tom Brown and wife Kristy; and great-grandfather: Frank Brown, all of Hermiston; aunt and sister in her heart: JoAnn Peyton, Anchorage, Alaska; and father: Nick Monteleone, South Bend, Wash.
