Services Set for Irene Van Den Driessche

Irene Viola (Faro) Van Den Driessche passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at a hospice facility in Spokane, Wash. She was diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration (CBD), a disease that affects the nerves and muscles with a shrinkage of multiple areas of the brain.

Irene was born April 30, 1949, in Pendleton, to Charles and Elsie (Boyer) Faro. Irene lived at Nolin, Ore., and attended school at Echo, Ore., graduating in 1967. She attended Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton and graduated from the LPN nursing program in 1968.

She worked at St. Anthony Hospital, Pendleton Community Hospital and several places in Spokane, retiring years later because of an injury on the job.

Irene met Darrel and they were married on April 21, 1973. They had one son, Judd. Judd and Melissa were married and had one son, Carter, who is 14 years old. She dearly loved her family.

Irene and Darrel lived at Loon Lake, Wash.

Irene was a very kind and giving person, always helping someone who was down and needed help. She taught a group of young wives, friends of her son and daughter-in-law, how to can pickles and other food products.

Irene and her family loved the mountains and lake fishing. She will be greatly missed.

Irene is survived by her husband Darrel; a son Judd, his wife Melissa, and grandson Carter; her mother, Elsie (Boyer) Faro of Echo; a brother, Louis Faro of Hermiston; a sister, Janet Logan of Pendleton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Irene was preceded in death by her father, Charles Faro; a brother, Charles; a sister, Debra; and both sets of grandparents.

Services are Saturday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. at Burns Mortuary in Hermiston. A luncheon will follow at noon at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, with burial at 3 p.m. at the Echo Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of choice.
