Jerry Myers

Jerry Edmond Myers of Heppner passed away in Hermiston on May 13, 2022 at the age of 87.

He was born on his family ranch near Heppner on July 1, 1934 to Jasper and Lila Bartholomew Myers.

Jerry lived on his family ranch throughout his childhood, attending schools at Pine City and Echo High School. He then studied agriculture sciences at Oregon State College for three years. He met Nancy Schuler while attending college, and the couple were united in marriage on Jan. 16, 1955 in Portland.

Jerry and Nancy returned to the family ranch, where he had worked and lived throughout his life. He and his father, Jasper were innovators who always worked to fabricate their equipment to find more efficient and better ways to farm. He was also active in the Heppner Elks Lodge, was involved in the development of Lake Pendland, served on the Umatilla Electric Cooperative board, attending the Morrow County Road Department, as well as many other ways of serving his community.

He enjoyed bowling, had his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying his Cessna 182, taking trips to Maui, and boating.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nancy; sons, John and Eileen Myers and Sam and Terri Myers; daughter, Wendy and Dan King; eight grandchildren, Rushelle, Danyelle, Chelsea, Austin, Skylan, Ashley, Casey and Sydney; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Lila; brother, Charles; and two sisters, Janet and Shirley.

A memorial service for friends and family will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Burns Mortuary of Hermiston, 685 W. Hermiston Ave.
