Lloyd William Frerichs died peacefully at home on Sept. 27, 2016 at the age of 86.

He was born Dec. 6, 1929 to William and Mattie Frerichs of Gurley, Neb.

Lloyd grew up and worked on the wheat farms in Dalton, Gurley area of Nebraska. He attended a one room school in Nebraska. He received a GED from Blue Mountain Community College. When he was old enough he got a job with Cheyenne County Road Department in Nebraska. After that he worked Elwell Motors in Sidney, Nebraska. In 1951 he was drafted for the Korean Was. He served his time in Alabama and Bamberg, Germany until 1953 when he was discharged. He went to work for a private company that worked at Sioux Army Depot.

June 11, 1954 he was joined in marriage to Alice Ann Mintle at the Assembly of God Church in Scottsbluff, Neb. Lloyd was a member of the Assemblies of God in Dalton and Scottsbluff, Neb., and Hermiston.

He is a father of five children. Myron & (Zonda) & Beth of Molalla, OR; Rodney & (Gerie) of Hermiston, OR, Steve from Gresham, OR; and Nancy of Hermiston, OR.

He has 17 grandchildren; Larissa, Nicole, Ariel, Shane, Chris, & Alex – Myron & Zonda’s. Jarred, Nathan, Kristan, Jalynn, & Morganne – Rod & Gerie’s. Devon, Aubrielle, and Rachel – Steve’s. Hunter, Breeanna, & Brenton – Nancy’s. Myrona & Zonda have 7 granddaughters; Audrina, Aadelyne, Evelyn, Eleanor, Havlyn, Amelia, Eloise and a grandson on the way.

He was preceded in death by mother, Mattie Frerichs and father William Frerichs, his sister Betty Sparks, and his brother Harold Frerichs as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles.

Lloyd worked with his dad on the farm for several years and then moved to Scottsbluff, Nebraska and worked at the co-op filing station for seven years. In December of 1966, the family moved to Hermiston where Lloyd had a job at the Army Depot. He worked there as a fork lift driver, a nerve gas gas handler, and as a railroad engineer until he retired in March of 1993. His hobbies were gardening, engine repair, carpentry, & raising a cow or two on our acreage. In 2009 they moved to a doublewide in town where they has lived since.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hermiston Assembly of God, 730 E. Hurlburt Ave., Hermiston.
