Shanna Abbott

Shanna C. Abbott of Umatilla passed away peacefully at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland on Feb. 24, 2024 while on hospice at the age of 56. Family members and a dear friend filled the room surrounding her bedside, expressing their deep compassionate love for her.

She was born on June 10, 1967 in Heppner to Eddie Gene Abbott and Marjorie (Margie) Ann Ball Abbott.

She was the third of four children. The children in order are Jody, Christina, Shanna, and Charlie Abbott. Shanna graduated from Umatilla High School in 1987. She lived most of her life in Umatilla, Hermiston and Irrigon.

One of Shanna’s greatest joys was singing her heart out to Reba and The Judds at karaoke events. She also enjoyed going for car rides while visiting with the driver and other passengers. She loved to listen to country music. This was Shanna’s way of having an awesome adventure. One could often find Shanna doing cross stitching, playing cards or board games, coloring with the grandkids or on her phone. Her favorite things to collect were angels and wolves. Her favorite flowers were roses, and her favorite color was pink. Her two little dogs, Little Man and Maria, brought her great company and comfort.

Shanna was a people person. Her constant chatter to anybody was a plus in meeting new people. She always tried to find a way to solve the problems of friends, family, and strangers when they were going through difficult times. Plus, her soft shoulders were great to cry on and she always had a listening ear. Of course, finding ways to make them laugh with her relieved the pressures of the day.

Shanna’s greatest accomplishments where her four children, Danielle, Jason, Brittany, and Brianna. Shanna’s grandchildren will miss all their special times together. One of these happy times that they want to share is when they would get together and work as a team to style their Nana’s hair and do her makeup and nails. Can you imagine the laughter, joking and new ideas they all concocted? However, after she was all dolled up, I don’t think their Nana went anywhere special. The kids had the pleasure of teaching their Nana how to ride a four-wheeler and had a lot of fun doing so. Her granddaughter Maria’s fondest memory of her Nana was when she would call and ask to spend the night with Maria. After picking her up they would get Dutch Bros coffee and something to eat, then they would go to Maria’s house. Shanna would get so excited and do a happy dance because she would get to sleep with her baby (Maria).

Shanna is survived by her children, Danielle (Christopher) Schneider, Jason Abbott, Brittany Abbott and Brianna Abbott (twins); her grandchildren, Maria Smith, Shelby and Aubrey Schneider, Alexis and Caleb Abbott, Skyler Johnson and Breelyn Paradiso, as well as a set of unborn twins. She is also survived by her mother, Margie; brothers, Jody and Charlie; her sister, Christina; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Shanna was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Abbott; her nephew, Justin Abbott; as well as grandparents on both sides.

Shanna’s celebration of life will be on April 27, 2024 at 1 p.m. at the Irrigon Marina Park. It will be a potluck. We will be sharing this special day with Shanna’s Aunt Wanda Abbott, who passed away on Feb. 5, 2024.
