Deputies of the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office contacted 50 persons, cited or warned 27 drivers for traffic-related violations, and arrested four people for DUII during the recent DUII/High Visibility Enforcement period.
The period lasted from Dec. 12-Jan. 1.
“Our goal was to increase our presence in the community, reduce impaired-driving, and promote safe travel during the holiday season,” said Sgt. Josh Roberts.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon participated in the nationwide event in an effort to get more impaired drivers off the street and save lives.
This event was funded through a grant from the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association. The next DUII/HVE grant event is scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday on Feb.1.
