Sheriff's Office Investigating Attempted Kidnapping

The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the attempted kidnapping of a female in Athena around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Main Street and Third Street.

According to the sheriff’s office, two men, in what is reported to be a gold Honda four-door car attempted to force the female into their vehicle. The female was walking her dog when the vehicle stopped and asked her for directions. The man in the passenger seat grabbed her and tried to force her into the car. She broke free and the vehicle drove away. The female was not injured.

The car was last known to be traveling south out of Athena on Pambrun Road. Searches throughout the night for the suspects and vehicle were unsuccessful.

The passenger in the Honda is described as a white male, unknown age, short and thin wearing black jeans and a white shirt with stripes.

The driver is described as a male with a dark complexion and dark hair, thin beard from sideburn to chin with a longer goatee and mustache. He was wearing a black baseball cap backwards with a curved brim.

The sheriff’s office is currently investigating and working to locate video from the area that might show the vehicle.
