The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office conducted 15 hours of enhanced patrols during the week of Pendleton Round-Up. During those patrols deputies contacted 36 motorists, issued five citations, gave 25 verbal warnings, made two DUII arrests and served four outstanding felony warrants.
The Pendleton Round-Up was the last grant event for the 2017-2018 DUII/HVE grant cycle. During the entire grant year, UCSO deputies worked 98 hours of enhanced patrols. On those patrols, they made 12 DUII arrests, which averages to one arrest for approximately every 8 hours worked. Deputies also issued 43 citations, gave 104 verbal warnings, and served five outstanding felony warrants.
Earlier in 2018, the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office was named a DUII Enforcement “Agency of the Year” by the Oregon DUII Multi-Disciplinary Task Force and was recognized at the annual DUII Multi-Disciplinary Training Conference in Bend, Oregon.
The Sheriff’s Office has applied for DUII/HVE funding for the 2018-2019 grant year. If the funding is granted, the first DUII/HVE event will be over Christmas/New Year in December.
