The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) is looking for a Pendleton woman who is a suspect in a theft in the Milton-Freewater area.

Amanda Marie Warren

The UCSO reported today that it has probable cause for the arrest of Amanda Marie Warren (aka Hernandez), 38, in connection with a theft that occurred at a residence near Milton-Freewater on Wednesday.

Warren, a convicted felon, is possibly still in the possession of stolen firearms. If her location is known, do not approach, instead call the 24-hour dispatch center at 541-966-3651. In an emergency call 911.

Around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the UCSO responded to a report of a theft that had just occurred at a residence on Birch Creek Road, northeast of Milton-Freewater. The victim, an elderly man, stated he was contacted at his residence by an unknown female asking to clean his home. He agreed and the female entered the residence, cleaned the home and left. After she was gone, the victim discovered items missing including his wallet and two firearms – a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol.

This is the second report of theft by similar means within a week. On Sunday, an elderly Athena man was lured out of his home by a woman claiming to want to speak to him about church. While the two were out of the house, a second person entered and stole several items, including a firearm.

The UCSO did not say whether the two cases were related.

UCSO is cautioning citizens, especially elderly who live alone, to be aware of the method used in Wednesday’s theft.

“In this case, the suspect gained entry by offering to clean the house, and used the opportunity to steal items,” said Lt. Sterrin Holcomb. Anyone having additional information is asked to call Detective Ward (541) 966-3638, or the 24-hour dispatch center at 541-966-3651 and in an emergency call 911. Refer to case 19-1009.
