State Rep. Greg Smith (R-Heppner) called for an independent fiscal audit of the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission during the Joint Committee on Ways and Means.
While the attorney general is conducting a forensic audit regarding potential criminal activities within the agency, Smith said he would like to see a third party conduct a fiscal audit given the various revenue streams the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission handles.
“As the co-vice chair of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means, I have a responsibility to ensure that taxpayers dollars are being spent, allocated, and distributed appropriately,” said Smith. “Oregonians deserve to have answers through a third party, non-biased auditor.”
