Robert D. “Bob” Otzenberger, longtime Stanfield resident, died on Oct. 2, 2016 in Hermiston at the age of 86.
He was born on July 27, 1930 in Sterling, Colo., to Fredrick and Mildred Morgan Otzenberger. He attended grade school in Sterling, Colorado and later Stanfield High School in Stanfield, Oregon. Bob was united in marriage to Vera Ada Ford on October 17, 1950. He worked as a machinist at the Umatilla Army Depot and then at the Bremerton Ship Yard. Bob worked as a mechanic for Eastern Oregon Motors, later as an appliance repairman for LA Moore, and owned an operated Bob’s Swap Shop in Stanfield. He worked as the maintenance lead for Hermiston School District for 20 years before retiring. Bob was an active member of the Hermiston First Christian Church for many years.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years: Ada Otzenberger, Hermiston, OR; son: Steve Otzenberger, Stanfield, OR; daughter: Laura Quayle, Springfield, OR; grandchildren: Eric and Erin; great grandchildren: Seth, Jonah, Emmeline, & Elijah; several nieces and nephews in the Albuquerque Area.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers: Lloyd, Clinton, & Willard.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Sun Terrace Assisted Living, 1550 NW 11th St., Hermiston.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at 3 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.
