Ellen Elizabeth (Snabel) Nash, 92, passed away peacefully on Sept. 18, 2015, due to chronic health issues.

Ellen was born Sept. 22, 1922 in Spray, one of eight siblings born to Ezra and Hope Snabel. Ellen attended grade school in Spray, walking the three miles to school every day. She graduated from high school in Prineville in 1940.

Ellen married Victor “Bud” Nash on August 18, 1951 in Redmond. They operated Nash Ranch, raising cattle, pigs, chickens, sheep, alfalfa hay and wheat. On March 23, 1993 they moved to their home in Stanfield. Ellen made the Stanfield area her permanent home where many friends and family came to visit often.

After Buds passing in 2007, Ellen remained in her home for two more years. In 2009 she moved to Sun Terrace of Hermiston, and recently moved to Guardian Angel Homes in Hermiston.

Ellen and Bud had three children, Vickie, William “Bill,” and Joseph “Joe.” She was involved in many activities, including PTA, area 4-H, sewing, and Grange.

Ellen enjoyed spending time visiting with her friends and family. She always made sure there was a home cooked meal on the table and a warm place to rest if needed. She enjoyed baking, canning, making quilts and taking various sewing projects to local bazaars.

Ellen is survived by her children, Vickie Vaughn of Casa Grande, AZ, Bill and Marla Nash of Beaverton, Oregon and Joe and Renee Nash of Stanfield; grandchildren: Jobe and Anne Nash of McMinnville, Evie Vaughn of La Grande, Jacob and Jessica Nash of Medford, Justin and Sheryl Nash of Echo, Jonie and Travis Taruscio of Stanfield. She has 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that have been a precious part of her life.
