He was born on Jan. 8, 1946 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada to Peter Sr. and Katie Wipf Hofer. Peter was raised in Montana where he lived until moving to California in 1964. He moved to Spokane, Wash., in the early 1970s. Peter married Cathy Harju on September 9, 1977 in Coeur d’ alene, Idaho. They lived in Spokane, Washington and he worked as a millwright for Kaiser Aluminum until retiring in 1999. They moved to Stanfield, Oregon in 2003 where they have lived since. Peter was a member of the Stanfield Moose and a former member of the Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and building projects.
He is survived by his wife: Cathy Hofer, Stanfield, OR; daughters: Autumn Adrian, Spokane, WA and Barbra Purcell, Richland, WA; brothers: John Hofer, Billings, MT, Paul & Jake Hofer, both of Ryegate, MT; sisters: Susie Hofer, Magdalena Hofer, & Mary Hofer, all of Billings, MT, Barbara Kliensaucer & Katie Wipf, both of Howerton, MT; grandchildren: James, Ashley, Jacob, & Jackson.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston.
Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield.
