Virginia Rose “Ginger” McElroy died on Oct. 11, 2017 at her home in Stanfield at the age of 61.
She was born on Oct. 20, 1955 in Oregon to Eugene and Clarice Jones Boatman.
She was raised in Salem, where she graduated from Sprague High School in the class of 1973. She worked outside the home from time to time, although her greatest joy came from being a stay-at-home mom raising her children. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, trapping, traveling, crocheting, reading and watching baseball. Ginger cherished her time with family, especially supporting her grandchildren with their many sporting events and activities.
She is survived by her life partner, Mike Potts, Stanfield; mother, Clarice Boatman, Hermiston; children, Renee (Troy), La Grande, Lacey (Trevor), Hermiston, Steven (Diana), Boardman, Daniel, Pocatello, Idaho and Kayla, Stanfield; brother, Terry; sisters, Mary, Osie, Sissy and Betty Jane; grandchildren, Trent, Hayden, Cole, Tanner, Rowdy, Tristin, Aunikah, Micah, Owen, Blake, Alexander and Adrienne; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Boatman; husband, Steve McElroy; and brothers, David, Mike and Stan.
A celebration of life service will be held on Oct. 20, 2017 (her 62nd birthday) at 2 p.m. at the Stanfield Moose Lodge, 615 W. Coe Ave.
