An investigation is taking place into the “unexpected death” of a Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) inmate Monday evening.
On Monday, at approximately 5:55 p.m., inmate Shane Morris, 39, was found unconscious in his cell. Staff immediately initiated CPR and continued attempts to revive the Morris until emergency medical services arrived. The inmate was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 6:43 p.m.
The investigation into Morris’ death is being conducted by the Oregon State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation.
Morris entered Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) custody on July 8, 2005, on three counts of sexual abuse and one count of sodomy out of Umatilla County. His earliest release date was February, 2019.
TRCI is a medium and minimum security facility in Umatilla that houses approximately 1,800 men in custody.
