Oregon State Rep. Greg Smith (R-Heppner) met on Thursday with Judge Robert S. Raschio, who is the presiding judge of Oregon’s 24th Judicial District (Grant & Harney Circuit Court) to discuss Ballot Measure 114.

Voters narrowly passed Ballot Measure 114 in November and it was set to go into effect in December. Gun rights activists, however, challenged it in court and argued that it violates the Oregon Constitution.

Judge Raschio believed their arguments had merit and put a temporary stay on the implementation of Measure 114. Since then, the Oregon Supreme Court has denied the Oregon Attorney General’s petition to overturn Judge Raschio’s injunction and allow Measure 114 to go into effect.

The gun control measure remains blocked until a lower court holds a hearing.

“I often receive questions from constituents regarding Measure 114,” said Smith. “Having meetings like today are vastly important; where different branches of government can come together and learn from each other. A huge thank you goes out to Judge Raschio for his work to uphold Oregon’s Constitution.”

    • We already have background checks …If more voters actually knew what they were voting on things would be different. World full of Morons floating through the fairy tale!

  1. It’s called Law and Order. The Liberal catch & release is wrong. Until criminals (hoodlums) are locked up, they will be repeat offenders, running wild and becoming more dangerous b/c there are no serious consequences, regardless of what they do. People must be able to defend themselves against the lawless!

  2. Idiots in Salem need to get a real life, if they don’t wise up Idaho will own a large portion of the state, I agree we need some sensible changes in Salem. Time for 114 to be flushed down so we can be and stay a real state, not a group of groupie idiots

  3. It’s Time to go back to the ways of our elders I grew up my dad came it from hurting put his gun in the corner I think I knew not to touch it long before I could walk ,
If you’re going to be a parent teach your kids right from wrong from the beginning don’t let them run your house don’t give into them and don’t put it on the teachers their there to educate not to be a parent schools need to bring back the board of education to the seat of understanding get over blaming the gun look at your kids there’s your problem make them responsible for their actions
