Steve Bertelson passed away at home on June 29, 2023, his wife and daughter at his side.
Steve was born on June 21, 1953 in Perham, Minn. to Dave and Grace Bertelson.
Steve graduated from Mac-Hi with the class of 1971. He received a degree from Blue Mountain Community College while working and playing sports. Steve and Susan met in 2006 and began their adventure together, traveling and seeing amazing sites. In 2010, after their initial trip to Scottsdale, Ariz. to attend the spring training of his beloved San Francisco Giants, he was thrilled to see the team win the World Series that year and go on to win two more in his lifetime. They experienced the Caribbean with a trip to the white sandy beaches of Curacao, visited castles in England and Scotland, watched sunsets on Maui, listened to jazz in New Orleans, and of course toured San Francisco, attending baseball games.
Please remember Steve with his long careers: in radio, 1974-1996 at KOHU radio station playing your favorite songs or broadcasting local sports, and as a legendary insurance agent with the Wheatland Insurance Company. Perhaps you remember Steve behind the plate when you or your sons were at bat. Or maybe on the court with a whistle calling fouls. You may have been lucky enough to spend an afternoon with Steve on the greens, playing his favorite pastime, golf. He shared many of these stories with his family and friends; he valued them all.
Surviving Steve are his wife, Susan; daughter, Amy (Manny); granddaughter, Lizzie (Joe); granddaughter, Kennedy; great grandson, Noah; sister, Candy; and brothers, Gary (Tricia) and Richard. Enriching Steve’s family circle are Jared, Decia, Eloa, Brynja, Tyler and Tiffany.
There are no services planned, per his request.
If you wish, remember Steve when you attend your next ball game or tee off to play the back nine.
