The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Eastern Oregon and is forecasting wind speeds up to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
The weather service is warning drivers to be careful while traveling during the heavy winds. Strong winds are expected to make traveling difficult for high-profile vehicles.
The wind advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. today. Wind speeds should die down by this evening, but will pick back up on Tuesday. The weather service expects a south wind blowing 15-22 mph on Tuesday with gusts up to 33 mph. There’s also a 60-percent chance of rain on Tuesday.
The National Weather Service issues wind advisories when sustained winds are forecast between 30-39 mph or gusts ranging from 45 to 57 mph.
