The Hermiston Bulldogs struggled offensively Friday night and coming up short on the scoreboard in a 27-14 loss to Summit at Kennison Field.
The Bulldogs hurt themselves early in the game when they came up empty on their first two possessions of the game after moving the ball into Summit territory. On the first drive, HHS quarterback Andrew James threw an interception to halt the Bulldogs’ first drive. On their next possession, the Bulldogs failed to convert a first down on a fourth-and-2 play.
The Bulldogs answered Summit’s first score of the game with a 17-yard touchdown pass from James to Dayshawn Neal.
Hermiston put together its best drive of the game in the third quarter, thanks to a 64-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Hinkle.
Summit quarterback John Bledsoe scored the game’s first touchdown on a 1-yard touchdown run. Bledsoe finished the night going 22-33 for 311 yards and four total touchdowns. He was also picked off twice by the Hermiston defense.
The loss drops Hermiston to 1-3 on the season overall and 1-1 in the Special District 1 league. Hermiston will travel to Hood River for next week’s clash.
