Sunnyside Tops HHS, 35-14

The Hermiston Bulldogs were shut out in the second half of their game Friday night against Sunnyside as the Grizzlies pulled away with a 35-14 nonconference win.

The score was tied 7-7 after the first quarter, but a pair of second-quarter touchdowns gave Sunnyside (2-0) a 21-14 halftime lead.

Hermiston quarterback Chase Elliott had a big game, despite the loss. The senior passed for 190 yards connecting on 18 of 23 passes and two touchdowns – one to Caden Hottman and another to Kael Hottman. Elliott also led the Bulldogs on the ground with 87 rushing yards.

Sunnyside running back Myles Newhouse ran for 181 yards and a touchdown with five catches for 24 yards. Quarterback Logan Rodriguez completed 30 of 43 passes for 323 yards and four touchdowns.

The Bulldogs (0-2) will stay on the road this Friday to take on the 1-1 Chiawana Riverhawks in Pasco, Wash.
