Sunset Elementary School will hold a book exchange from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23.
Community members can donate new or gently-used books for the exchange by dropping them off at the school office from 7:20 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school days. The books will be distributed to Sunset students in kindergarten through fifth grade to help support reading.
The opportunity is part of the school’s family reading night. During the event, students will also have the chance to visit several classrooms set up with a variety of themes including Hawaii, space, the beach, sports and stories around the campfire.
Students will be able to take Accelerated Reader quizzes in the library, and parents will be able to sign up for Home Connect. Home Connect is a feature of the Accelerated Reader program that allows parents to view the results of their students’ progress in the AR program. A component of Home Connect also allows parents to receive an email whenever their child takes an AR quiz so that the parent has immediate notification and quiz results.
