After the city of Hermiston launched an online survey last month to engage the community on the future of the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center (EOTEC), nearly 300 people have responded voicing support for more year-round events.

The survey is gathering information on what types of events people want to see in the future at EOTEC, as well as soliciting input regarding the facility amenities and policies. More than 85 percent of survey respondents said they would like to see more concerts at EOTEC, and more than 75 percent would like better access to food festivals.

It’s not too late to share your ideas for the future as the project team will be gathering community ideas through the survey at www.eotecsurvey.com through the end of September. All survey participants will be entered to win a $50 Visa gift card or family passes to the Hermiston Aquatic Center.

The city of Hermiston is using the information gathered through the survey to develop a strategic plan to guide the city in their management of the EOTEC for the next 10 years. The city, in partnership with the EOTEC Advisory Committee, wants to engage everyone from the community, as well as visitors from across the region. The strategic plan will utilize information from community members, EOTEC customers, and other facility users to identify shared community goals and priorities regarding future events, facility use, marketing, and policies.

In addition to the survey, the team will also be interviewing community leaders, hosting a series of focus groups, and holding a community open house this fall.
