Susie Hawkins died on April 2, 2024 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 80.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1943 in Tulelake, Calif. to Daniel and Marie Rodriguez.
Susie was raised and attended schools in Hermiston, graduating in the class of 1962. She then attended Fagan’s College of Beauty in Pendleton and returned to Hermiston after graduation. Susie was united in marriage to Larry Hawkins on Feb. 14, 1964 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She worked at Rae’s Beauty Shop for several years.
Susie retired and enjoyed being at home, traveling, camping, going on nature drives, painting with water colors, creating art with colored pencils, and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Larry Hawkins, Hermiston; son, Lance Hawkins ( Monica), Hermiston; daughter, Shannon Morgan (Daniel), Hermiston; grandchildren, Kory, Vaughan, Hayden, Shambra, Mati and Lainey; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Susie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Darrell “Butch” Rodriguez.
Services were held on Friday, April 5, 2024.
A private family burial will be held at a later date.
