A Hermiston teenager faces multiple charges including minor in possession and unlawful use of a weapon.

Police were dispatched to an area near E. Beech Avenue and N.E. McNary Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday after someone reported a gunshot being fired in the vicinity.

According to Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston, officers canvassed the area and found a parked Ford F-150 that had been damaged.

The investigation led to taking an intoxicated 17-year-old male into custody from inside 230 E. Beech Avenue. The male was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree criminal mischief and minor in possession of alcohol. The male was later transported and lodged at the juvenile detention facility in Pendleton. Edmiston said this was the seventh time since 2010 that the juvenile was charged with minor in possession.

During the process of taking the juvenile into custody, the teen’s mother, Olga G. Espain, 35, 525 NW Seventh St., Hermiston, was arrested for interfering with a police officer. Espain was transported to the Hermiston Police Department and processed with a citation to appear.
