Thelma Lindner Passes Away at 100

Thelma Winifred Lindner of Pendleton died on July 27, 2024 in Pendleton at the age of 100.

She was born on June 16, 1924 in Kingman, Kan. to Fred and Madge Holmquist.

Thelma lived in Kansas until the age of 13 when her family moved to Hermiston. She graduated from Hermiston Union High School in 1942.

She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Lindner on Feb. 10, 1946. They were married for 48 years and had four children, Dennis, Carol, Dick and Ron.

After graduation, her first job was at the Army depot selling war bonds. She then worked at the Hermiston livestock auction and Montgomery Ward catalog sales. Her favorite jobs were office manager at Good Shepherd Hospital for 14 years and Campbell Motors for 10 years.

She was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, member of Hermiston Garden Club, RV-ing travel club and two doll clubs. At one time she had collected 150 dolls.

She is survived by son, Dennis Lindner, Pendleton; daughter, Carol Holcomb (Tony), Yakima, Wash.; son, Ronald Lindner (Phyllis), Pendleton; daughter-in-law, Kristine Lindner, Hermiston; grandchildren, Heather, Emily, Aaron, Brian, Joy, and Tiah; and great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Ashley, Kaleb, Joshua, Anna, Dalton, Blake, Cora, Noelia, and Sabrina.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Lindner; son, Richard “Dick” Lindner; and a grandson, Trevor Holcomb.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions in Thelma’s memory to Trinity Lutheran Church at 485 W. Locust Ave. in Hermiston.
