Cinco de Mayo organizers are expecting the biggest turnout ever on Sunday in downtown Hermiston.
The annual celebration will get under way at 11:30 a.m. with the kick-off parade, starting at the Hermiston Conference Center and concluding up Second Street to Gladys Avenue and back to the conference center. The parade will feature dancing horses.
New this year will be a carnival just south of Gladys Avenue. Entertainment throughout the day will include music, comedy, a dancing horse competition and the first annual Miss Cinco de Mayo Pageant presentation at 1 p.m.
This will be the third year in which the celebration has taken place in downtown Hermiston and officially supported by the city of Hermiston. Several thousand people took part in the past two Cinco de Mayo events in downtown Hermiston and organizers are expecting even more this year.
