Three Hermiston Councilors to Face Opponents in May 17 Primary

Three of the four Hermiston City Councilors running in the May 17 primary will have opponents following Tuesday’s filing deadline.

Running in Ward 1 will be incumbent Lori Davis and challenger Jackie Linton. In Ward II, incumbent Roy Barron will face Stan Stradley. Councilor Jackie Myers will run unopposed. The Ward IV race will feature challenger David McCarthy and incumbent Phillip Spicerkuhn. McCarthy is a former councilor who was defeated in the November 2020 elections. He then applied to fill out the remaining term of Doug Smith following his resignation. Also applying at the time for Smith’s seat on the council was Spicerkuhn, who was selected by the council.

In the race for Hermiston Municipal Court judge, incumbent Thomas Creasing will face challenger Cameron Bendixsen.

The terms for the four ward council seats run from Jan. 1, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2026. The term for municipal court judge runs from Jan.1, 2023 to Dec. 31, 2024.
