The Blue Mountain Community College women’s soccer and volleyball teams will swap out their BMCC blue for pink Friday, Oct. 19 in recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to help raise money for the Pendleton Round-Up’s Tough Enough To Wear Pink (TETWP) campaign.
Women’s soccer will “Kick for a Cure” as the team takes on Yakima Valley at 2 p.m. on the soccer field, while Timberwolf volleyball will “Dig for a Cure” when they take on North Idaho College at 6 p.m. in the MAC. All game proceeds and donations will benefit TETWP, which supports local breast cancer patients and survivors through the St. Anthony Hospital Cancer Care Clinic and the Kickin’ Cancer New Beginnings program. TETWP t-shirts will also be on sale at each of the games, and pink party beads will be given out to fans attending the games. Fans are also asked to wear pink to the games.
BMCC will also go pink that day, encouraging students and employees to wear pink to show their support.
“Wearing pink helps to spread the message of hope, and Tough Enough To Wear Pink is so appreciative of the support BMCC is giving to the campaign so that we can continue to share that message and help others,” said BMCC Vice President of Public Relations Casey White-Zollman, who is also co-chair of the Round-Up’s TETWP campaign.
While soccer games are free to attend, the volleyball game is just $5. Students and staff have free admission.
