The Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon Let ’er Buck Run to benefit the Tough Enough To Wear Pink campaign (TETWP) will return this year on a new date – the morning of July 16.
This year’s 5K Let ’er Buck Run will benefit the 11th annual TETWP campaign, which raises funds and awareness for two local cancer support programs.
Registration for the Let ’er Buck Run is now open. Participants can register online this year using a credit card at www.pendletonroundup.com, or pick up a registration form at the Pendleton Round-Up and Happy Canyon gift shop, 1114 SW Court Ave., in Pendleton. Paper registrations should be dropped off or mailed to the Round-Up gift shop, PO Box 609, Pendleton, OR 97801.
Registration is $25, and those who register by July 10 will get a free T-shirt. A limited number of T-shirts will be available the day of the run for $15. Participants can also register (cash or check only) the morning of the run from 7 to 7:45 a.m. Runners should check-in at the ticket booth near the bucking horse statue in front of the Round-Up Grounds.
Runners are asked to wear pink to show their support for TETWP. In addition to prizes for age categories, the 5K race will also award prizes for the best man and best woman dressed in pink.
In addition to the Let ’er Buck Run, TETWP will also host the annual 1K Dash’n’Splash for children ages 3-11 beginning at 9 a.m. Participants will receive a free admission pass to the Pendleton Aquatic Center, as well as a slice of pizza and soda after the race, courtesy of Big John’s Pizza. Early registrants (those who register by July 10) will also receive a t-shirt and goody bag. Registration is just $15. A limited number of Dash’n’Splash T-shirts will be available for purchase for $12 on race day.
The 11th annual TETWP event on Thursday, Sept. 15, not only raises awareness of breast cancer to the thousands of visitors who come to Round-Up, but 100 percent of the proceeds stay right here in our community. The two organizations benefiting from the TETWP campaign help local breast cancer patients from time of diagnosis through recovery from the cancer experience. The Kick’n Cancer program provides free massage, personal training and Pilates classes for recovering patients, while the CHI St. Anthony Cancer Care Clinic provides breast prosthetics, mastectomy bras, post-op camisoles, lymphedema sleeves, pads & gloves, mastectomy swimwear, wigs, financial help and mileage reimbursement for cancer patients.
