Traffic Control, Safety Work Continues on I-84 near Exit 216 in Pendleton

The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is installing various traffic management devices to improve safety and traffic control in the event of Interstate 84 closures in the Pendleton area and points east.

According to ODOT, the contractor has been working on this project since early April installing electrical conduits, junction boxes and cabinet pads, and installing light poles near Exit 216. Upcoming work includes drilling foundations for sign structures.

Starting today, travelers can expect:

  • Alternating lane closures on I-84 eastbound between milepost 208, near the Union Pacific Railroad overpass, and milepost 213, at the U.S. 30 overpass. Lane closures are expected to last one week
  • Speed reduced to 55 mph until further notice
  • Crews working Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
