The Oregon Department of Transportation is cautioning motorists that they should expect 20 minute delays along Interstate 84 today for a rolling slowdown near the Tower Road-Boardman area.
Interstate 84 traffic will be delayed for about 20 minutes near Boardman, between Exit 151 (Quesna County Park-Three Mile Canyon) and Exit 165 (Laura Lane-Port of Morrow). The traffic impacts are scheduled to occur sometime this morning during a rolling slowdown that is needed to accommodate the movement of an over-sized load along Interstate 84 near Tower Road Exit 159.
During the slowdown operation, traffic will be slowed with pilot cars to about 30-35 miles per hour. Westbound traffic will be controlled between exits 165 and 159, with freeway on ramps at Exit 164 and the Boardman Rest Area closed until the slowdown operation has passed.
Eastbound traffic will be controlled between exits 151 and 159, with freeway on ramp at Exit 159 delayed. Vehicles will be released from the slowdown after they have passed the work site near Tower Road. Travelers are cautioned to be prepared for slowed traffic and minor delays in this area. The date and time of the slowdown operation is subject to change, depending on weather conditions or other unforeseen factors. Today’s slowdown was postponed from last week, but is expected to take place today, according to ODOT.
