A semi-truck driver was charged with drunk driving on Monday after he lost control of his truck, rolled over on Interstate 84, with his cargo of frozen chicken spilling onto the shoulder.

The accident occurred around 4:10 a.m. when Vasyl Prymachuk, 55, of Tacoma, Wash., was traveling westbound on I-84 just east of Pendleton. According to the Oregon State Police, he was attempting to negotiate a curve when the truck traveled onto the south shoulder and rolled over.

Prymachuk was trapped inside his vehicle for several hours before he was freed and taken St. Anthony’s Hospital in Pendleton for treatment of minor injuries. After he was released from the hospital, he was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving.

The truck and trailer are owned by Fasco Transport LLC., of Auburn, Wash.

The roadway remained closed for a short time during the investigation and was closed intermittently throughout the day to allow for cleanup of the crash scene.
