An Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) adult in custody, Brandon Sean Smithson, died on Dec. 6.
Smithson was incarcerated at Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) in Umatilla. He passed away at a Portland area hospital. As with all in-custody deaths, the Oregon State Police have been notified and the Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.
Smithson entered DOC custody on June 4, 1999 from Multnomah County. His earliest release date was July 31, 2025. He was 45 years old.
TRCI is a multi-custody prison in Umatilla that houses approximately 1,800 male inmates.
