Two 15-year-olds are lodged in the Umatilla County Juvenile Department and their parents have been cited following an alleged graffiti incident in Hermiston on Thursday.
At 10:30 a.m., Hermiston Police Department officers responded to a report of two juvenile males applying graffiti to a building at Newport Park. Officers arrived within minutes and the two teens attempted to flee on foot but were located and taken into custody.
According to the HPD, officers learned both juveniles were on probation for prior acts, and as conditions of their probation were not to associate with one another, engage in criminal activity, nor engage in activities associated with gang behavior.
As in prior instances, parents of both teens were also cited for failure to supervise a child.
On its Facebook page, the HPD wrote the following:
Your Hermiston Police Department is grateful for the citizen who reported this behavior today, and to all of you who stand up and report bad acts in our community. Hermiston is a nice place to live. Thank you for helping us keep it that way.
Like the visual response from HPD also. Parents are adults need to name names as well as addresses.
