Today, U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) will award a $6 million grant to the city of Pendleton to help improve the infrastructure at the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport.
The grant will make it possible for the city to rehabilitate and modernize the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport. The funds provided will preserve the primary runway for multiple uses.
“The Department of Transportation’s grant to help improve the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport is a huge win for Eastern Oregon,” said Walden. “The airport plays a critical role in the region, especially for Pendleton. Not only does it help with the flow of goods and people in the area, but it supplies many local jobs and fuels the economy. I know that with the combination of the city’s contributions to the project and this grant, we will see the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport continue to flourish and provide great economic opportunities for the region.”
