Umatilla Electric Cooperative is warning the public about scamming attempts.
UEC members have reported calls from what appears to be a Umatilla Electric or Hermiston Energy Services (HES) phone number demanding payment.
UEC and HES have a process in place before disconnecting any service – there is no phone call threatening immediate disconnection. Residents are encouraged to warn family, friends and businesses who may be a target.
If you receive a suspicious call, hang up. You are welcome to call UEC at 541-567-6414 or HES at 541 289-2000 directly if unsure about the status of your account.
