Umatilla Electric Cooperative employees honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October with an organization-wide fundraiser benefitting Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation.
Generosity flowed this year as the employees raised $4,212 by purchasing honor ribbons, raffle tickets, buying pink “gear” including socks, lanyards, and wristlets, and by purchasing rounds of mini golf in the co-op’s courtyard.
UEC holds an employee fundraiser annually to honor breast cancer awareness month. The goal of the fundraiser is not only to support the cause, but it also encourages employee engagement and brings the UEC team together. Lynda Kennedy, technical administrative assistant, puts the fundraiser together each year.
“This year’s fundraiser has been incredible and the competitiveness on UEC’s mini-golf course drove employee engagement,” said Kennedy. “We are thrilled to donate to such a worthy cause and hope that this funding will make a difference for those fighting against breast cancer.”
