Umatilla Electric Cooperative staff will be wearing pink, participating in a variety of activities and raising money during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
For the last few years, UEC staff have raised thousands of dollars annually to support members of our community with breast cancer screening and treatment. UEC staff participated in a variety of fund-raising activities to honor those that have fought the disease.
Last year, after hearing the amount staff had raised, the UEC Board of Directors was impressed with the generosity, and supported an additional donation for the cause.
Breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer among women in the U.S., accounting for 31 percent of newly-diagnosed cancers. This disease doesn’t just affect women. Breast cancer is diagnosed in 1 of 100,000 men, as well.
