The Umatilla Robotics Team will hold a 2015 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) season kick-off event on Saturday.
The team’s six-week build season will begin with the world release of the 2015 Game at 7:15 a.m. on Saturday. The team will hold the event in the Umatilla High School Commons.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a nonprofit organization devoted to helping young people discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, teams are challenged to raise funds, hone teamwork skills, and build and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors.
As the team begins its fourth year, they are hoping for a repeat of their successful last two seasons which took them to World Finals in St. Louis.
