The Umatilla County 911 dispatch service was interrupted for a couple of hours earlier today.

An email from the Umatilla County Sheriff’s office just before 7 a.m. today reported that the dispatch center had been notified by US Cellular of an “interruption in service when calling 911.”

The sheriff’s office was told that people calling 911 may receive a message that the call cannot go through. Callers were instructed by the sheriff’s office to call the office’s business line if they were unable to get through using 911.

The sheriff’s office sent a second email shortly before 9 a.m., stating the problem had been resolved and that calls were now going through to the 911 dispatch center. The sheriff’s office stated that the cause of the interruption had not been determined.
