The Umatilla County Commissioners declared a temporary ban on all non-agricultural burning within the unincorporated areas of the county on Thursday. The ban is in effect until further notice.
The ban excludes any land under the jurisdiction of the state of Oregon, the United States government, Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and those covered by a fire district.
The temporary ban is only for those areas under the jurisdiction of the Umatilla County Smoke Management Ordinance. Special care should be exercised when igniting fireworks.
Agricultural burning is still allowed, although further restrictions may be imposed based on weather conditions.
