Umatilla County Fair Kicks Off Today

The 2024 Umatilla County Fair with its theme, A Blue Ribbon Future, kicks off today with a week full of exhibits, concerts, food, rides and more.

Here’s a look at some of the events this week:

The Children’s Tractor Pull, for ages 4-11, is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8 at Bonney’s Ag & Auto Repair booth.

The Fun @ the Fair kids camp performance takes place at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 on the Les Schwab stage.

The Cutest Baby Contest will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 on the Les Schwab stage. The contest is for newborns up to 18 months.

The Walchli Watermelon Seed-Spitting Contest is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Les Schwab stage.

Royalty Night takes place on Wednesday Aug. 7. Autographs will be given by the Umatilla County Fair Court and surrounding area royalty from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Wildhorse concert area.

The Rascal Rodeo will be at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10. Adults and children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities can tap into their inner cowboy or cowgirl while engaging in modified rodeo activities at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center. Horse or rodeo experience is not required.

Entertainers will perform throughout fair week including magician Sean Watson and Magical Mickey O, a comedian, juggler and unicyclist.

Little Rascals Kidz Club is a free kids zone with eight hands-on shaded activity stations including coloring, giant Legos, a tea party, Barbies, bubbles and cornhole.

Michelangelo & Donatello will help celebrate the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 40th anniversary.

The Youth Livestock Auction, a fair staple since 1912, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The fair hours are 10 a.m. to midnight, Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday.

The headline entertainers this year will be Pecos and the Rooftops at 9 p.m., on Wednesday, Aug. 7, Kameron Marlowe at 9 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 8, Theory of a Deadman at 9 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 9, and Latino Night at 7 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Single day admission for those 11 and up is $12. Children 10 and under get in free. Admission is $10 for seniors 60 and over and those in the military. A season pass for all four days is $36. All fair admission tickets include access to limited bleacher concert seating for main stage shows except Saturday’s concert.

The carnival runs from 2 p.m. to closing Wednesday through Friday and noon to closing on Saturday. Carnival wristbands can be purchased for $40 at ticket booths. Individual ride tickets can also be purchased at the ticket booths.

Fair parking costs $5 per day.
