Umatilla County is one of the best places in the state of Oregon to live if you’re a job seeker.
That’s according to Nerd Wallet, a financial advice website based in California. The website ranked Oregon counties based on population growth, median incomes and unemployment rates.
According to Nerd Wallet, Umatilla County is ranked as the fourth-best county in Oregon for job seekers. Hood River County was ranked No. 1, followed by Benton County and Wasco County.
Nerd Wallet writes:
“Umatilla is located in northeastern Oregon, bordering Washington. The county seat, Pendleton, sits on the Umatilla River, a tributary of the Columbia River, and the area is home to plenty of outdoor recreation. Umatilla County saw a working-age population growth of 3.4 percent between 2009 and 2011 while households earned a median income of $45,911 in 2011. The county’s largest employers include Smith Frozen Foods, Fleetwood RV and Good Shepherd Health Care System. Both Hermiston, the county’s largest city, and Pendleton have a branch of the Oregon Small Business Development Center, which provides advising, training and other resources for small businesses.”
The rest of the top 10 include, in order: Washington County, Yamhill County, Multnomah County, Union County, Columbia County and Tillamook County.
