Members of the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) spent a day earlier this month attending the second annual Eastern Oregon Youth Outdoor Skills Day.
UCSO members, including its Search and Rescue Team, pitched in to help young people learn about outdoor safety and life-saving skills. The event was sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
“Mother Nature threw us a curveball with the weather, but we still had over 300 kids attend our event and with their parent/guardians we estimate we had well over 500 attendees,” said Tim Campbell, chairman of the Pendleton chapter Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
