Umatilla Electric Cooperative has restored power to about 50 members that suffered a power outage on Wednesday, Aug. 9, on the west side of the city.
Weston Putman, UEC public relations manager, said the outage occurred around 7:30 a.m. near the area of S.W. 17th St. and West River Hill Drive and affected 55 members.
He said maintenance and repair has been ongoing since the start of the outage and that UEC is reporting approximately five members were still without power.
“UEC line crews are still on site and expect to have the 5 remaining members restored shortly,” Putman stated in an email. “The cause of the outage is still being investigated, but it did involve underground cable, which can take significantly more time to restore than that of overhead line or equipment. We are very appreciative of our members’ patience and understanding as we work to restore power to the remaining members.”
