The Umatilla Public Library is offering a “Canned Food for Fines” incentive aimed at getting patrons to return overdue books.
The library will reduce fines by 50 cents for each canned food item up to a maximum of $10.
Dented cans and outdated items will not be accepted. Other non-perishable food donations are welcome. The food will be picked up Dec. 8 for the Umatilla Fire Department Christmas baskets.
