The Oregonian newspaper has ranked each of Oregon’s 36 counties in their average tax rate for residential properties.
Wheeler County, with an effective average tax rate of $13.03 per $1,000 of real market value for residential homes and land, has the highest rate.
No. 6 is Umatilla County, at $12.46 per $1,000 of real market value for residential homes and land.
Morrow County ranks No. 7, at $12.21 per $1,000 of real market value for residential homes and land.
No. 35, Gilliam County, has an effective average tax rate of $7.10 per $1,000. Josephine County has the lowest rate, at $7 per $1,000.
