Umatilla County Fire District #1 has announced changes to open burning regulations.
Burning is now regulated by Umatilla County Smoke Management. All burning days between Oct. 1 and May 31 are set by Smoke Management instead of the fire district. From June 1 until Sept. 30, burning is prohibited regardless of whether it is a burn day according to Smoke Management.
These regulations still apply, even if burning is allowed:
· Wind below 10 MPH
· Humidity above 15%
· Burning between 10 a.m. to 2 hours before sunset
· Temperature under 90 degrees
Always call 541-278-6397 to see if it’s a burn day first. For full information, go to the fire district website.
