A 35-year-old Umatilla man was injured in a fatal car accident near north Pasco on Thursday, Oct. 19.
Washington State Patrol reported at 4:18 p.m. a 2005 Nissan Frontier was westbound on Vineyard Drive approaching SR 395 and failed to yield to a 2020 Kenworth Tractor H that was northbound on SR 395.
Police stated the two vehicles collided. Luis P. Acosta Hernandez, 23, of Pasco, driver of the Nissan, was declared dead at the scene. Officers noted Hernandez was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred.
Jose I. Navarro, 35, of Umatilla, driver of the Kenworth, sustained injuries and was transported to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco.
